We Have Been Blessed To Be A Blessing

A group of Americans were asked a question.  What do you think Africa is like?  Their responses ranged from the images of the old TV program Tarzan, which showed Africans as people that were always barefooted wearing grass skirts. A second idea was that they were people in extreme bondage of slavery as in the historical movie Roots.  Yet another point of view was of  hungry children eating something like oatmeal out of a bowl with flies landing on their faces.

Unfortunately, the latter ideas are often true.  This has led many to conclude that this problem is too big and nothing they do will help.  The truth is, the problem is too big for us to solve individually but with God all things are possible and as we come together with our resources we can do valiantly.

Do you have religion or a way that you show your service to God?   According to James 1:27: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.  We know that everyone cannot travel abroad but everyone can pray and send others.  You may also say what about helping those in our own country America.  In fact, you should help those in your on community.

In Psalm 33:12, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.  America was founded on Biblical principles and because of that its people are blessed with an abundance of opportunity and resources.  Even the poor have access to things like free lunch, free health care through the Medicaid program, the Department of Human Resources for every social issue imaginable, there are churches on almost every corner with some type of outreach. In west African countries like Ghana, Sierra Leon, Togo, and Gabon things that many Americans  take for granted are desperately needed.  Want you help?
